Is Your Solo Sex Routine Making Partnered Sex Difficult?

As human beings we tend to find great comfort in routine, repetition, and patterns. This phenomenon can even impact our sex lives, meaning that most of us tend to stick to a particular routine, such as using the same toys or methods of stimulation, during self-pleasure or masturbation.

Unfortunately, this can have negative impacts on our ability to orgasm, making it difficult to get off to anything outside of our typical solo norm. “This is because your body hasn't just been conditioned, but the neural pathway in your brain has been strengthened by reaching orgasm the same way over and over again,” (Chatel, 2023, p. 3). This can make partnered sex, without the contribution of your favorite toy, aggravatingly difficult and sometimes unsatisfying. Luckily this problem has an easy but not necessarily quick solution; break your routine!

Try using a new toy, your hands, or invest in alternative methods than your typical favorites like air pulse or anal stimulation. Although it may take practice, the out-cums will be more than worth it.
