Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our Expert's Answers About Clit Vibrators

Q: What clitoris toy should I try if I’m a beginner?
A: If you’re just beginning and you’re looking for your first ever clit stimulator, it’s best to start with something small such as a bullet vibrator or a finger vibrator. We know as a beginner you may be overwhelmed, so investing in something small will properly ease you into sex toy play and help you understand what feels good for you.

Q: Are there different types of clit toys?
A: Yes, there is actually quite a diverse variety of toys that have been created specifically for clitoral stimulation. Each clit is unique and different sensations will feel good for different people. So, it’s fun to experiment and find what type of clit stimulation feels best for you. Just to list a few toys that focus on clit stimulation, we’ve got: bullet vibrators, wand vibrators, finger vibrators, clit sucking toys and rabbit vibrators.

Q: How do I clean my clit vibrator?
A: Our complete guide, How to Clean Sex Toys, has a video as well as a quick overview on how to clean your vibrator! Something important to remember is if your toy has batteries, you need to remove them before cleaning your toy. Once that’s all set, just make sure to wash areas of the sex toy that are insertable or that make contact with your body with adult toy cleaner and warm water.

Q: What type of lube should I use?
A: Here at TooTimid we always recommended using lubricant during any sexual act. Water based lube is the most popular and would work well with most sex toys. However, if you’re looking to explore with anal play, silicone lubricant is the best option.

  • Spanking (using your hand or something wide like a paddle for a "thud" sensation)
  • Caning (using something narrow like a cane or riding crop for a "stinging" sensation)
  • Flogging (using a whip with many falls, such as a cat-o-nine, galley-whip, or flogger

Q: What are the top expert tips I should know for BDSM and kinky sex?
A: Safe, Sane, and Consensual (SSC) is a popular mantra across the BDSM community and vital to enjoying any kinky practices you engage in. There are variations on the SSC guidelines for different areas of kink, but in general, any potential new sexual situations you discuss with your partner should meet these criteria:

Safe means that the risks are known and minimized, and that those new to BDSM are informed enough to reasonably recognize risk.

Sane means that all parties involved are of sound, sober mind and able to give informed consent. Both partners must be able to maintain self-control and not betray their partner's trust.

Consensual means all individuals have given informed, uncoerced, enthusiastic, and revocable permission for something to happen. Revocable means that consent can be withdrawn at any time during the activity, by either party.

It is important to realize that it is not solely the responsibility of the "bottom" or the "top" to give consent and establish limits. Communicating before, during, and after the activity is essential to ensure safety and security for both partners, and agreeing on a safe word or a code such as Red/Yellow/Green can help you adjust the scenario as needed and relieve some of the pressure or concerns you may feel.

Q: How do I clean my masturbator?

FAQ: Our Expert's Answers About Clit Sucking Vibrators

Q: What is a clit sucker?
A: Clit suckers are designed with a small suction cup that creates suction specifically around the clitoris by removing air. Each toy has different vibrations and pulsations you can experiment with!

Q: Why should I try a clit licker / sucking toy?
A: We know how important clit stimulation is, and we also know that each clitoris is different and different sensations will feel pleasurable for different people.

Sometimes a traditional clit vibrator can provide stimulation that is just too much for some people. This is because toys like bullet sex toys were created to stimulate the tip of the clitoris, which is the most sensitive part. Whereas the clit sucker more envelops the clit rather than providing direct stimulation. So, if you’ve found that putting a vibrator on your clit provides too much stimulation - a suction vibrator is a great option to experiment with!

Q: How do I clean my new toy?
A: Our complete guide, How to Clean Sex Toys, has a video as well as a quick overview on how to clean your vibrator! Something important to remember is if your toy has batteries, you need to remove them before cleaning your toy. Once that’s all set, just make sure to wash areas of the sex toy that are insertable or that make contact with your body with adult toy cleaner and warm water.
