It’s Our Birthday!

If you can believe it, 8 years ago today, tootimid.com went live and was officially launched. At the time, I was living in an apartment in Orlando, FL and Chad was just moving into our soon-to-be TooTimid headquarters (2 bedroom apartment) in Hollywood, FL (just north of Miami). We have come a long way since then and we wanted to take a moment to thank our loyal customers who have helped turn TooTimid into what it is today. Thank you!We had a very humble beginning and we would love to share our story with you.
It all started with Chad and I sitting at a kitchen table in an apartment in Orlando, Florida. We were just two guys with very little money and no technical experience who decided to start an online business. It started off as an idea to have simple website where people could buy items they may be too embarrassed to buy in person. We saw a market that was under served and thought, “Hey, we can do this better.”
Armed with two laptops, dial-up internet and a $2,000 line of credit from Chad’s credit card, we purchased the tootimid.com domain. After a few months of 15-18 hour work days, on September 12, 2000 TooTimid.com went live. Within just 24 hours of going live, our first order came in. I still remember that very first order. That was very exciting! Within our first full year, we generated over $500,000 in sales from our two-bedroom South Florida apartment. Eventually our neighbors started to wonder about the contents of all those brown boxes we were shipping out everyday.
In our second year, we broke the $1 million mark and decided to move the company into an office/warehouse flex space in Woburn, Massachusetts. Over the next few years our business grew steadily. By the end of 2006, we had outgrown our office/warehouse space and moved our operations to a larger facility in Nashua, New Hampshire.
By 2007 we had achieved record sales. With sales continuing to grow we then decided it was time to take on the next challenge and open a brick and mortar store on posh Newbury Street in Boston.
Over the past eight years, TooTimid.com has helped tens of thousands of women, men and couples have more fulfilling bedroom experiences. TooTimid has turned into a place where people can feel totally comfortable shopping for bedroom toys, reading educational articles and sharing their intimate experiences in the forum community. We love helping couples connect in the bedroom in ways that bring them closer together physically and emotionally. What started out as a simple web store has evolved into a comprehensive resource for women, men and couples seeking to enrich their lives through better sex.
